I was about 2/3 done with Gundam AGE when I realized I just didn’t want to keep watching anymore. But I had already watched so much of it, so I knew that it would bug me to just drop it and know it was going to end soon. So I forced myself to finish it. And now I hate myself.
Mobile Suit Gundam AGE takes place over the course of 100 years, following three generations of a family that build and pilot the Gundam. The Gundam was created to use against a strange enemy that has been attacking the Earth space colonies. Flit Asuno is the first to use the Gundam on these new enemies, and begins a chain of events that will change everything.
I really enjoyed the first arc with Flit. I thought, this is really good! They’re rebels, and people die, and it’s pretty exciting! But then after that the series started falling really flat for me. Asemu’s arc was sort of boring, and mostly used as a way to introduce Zeheart to the series. Then Kio’s arc happened and that’s when I realized the series just took a total nose dive.
Nothing happens. His arc is nothing but him yelling at people to stop fighting. Then magically it’s the last episode and everyone listens to him! Actually everyone listens to Flit who has turned into a maniac and who was going to kill an entire colony of people before having a hallucination and then realizing “Mmm, better not.” AND THEN HE GETS TO BE SOME SORT OF HERO. OKAY THEN. I was more sad to see The Diva get blown up than any of these characters dying. It just wasn’t a very good ending. Everything is great because Flit made a 20 second speech. Cool.
Good thing: Most of the mobile suits are 2D animation, not 3D.
I wouldn’t really suggest this to anyone unless you’re a hardcore Gundam fan. If the series was about 25 episodes, I’d tell you guys to MAYBE try it if you’re curious. But 49 episodes of this shit?
