Okay, I loved Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna. Honestly, it was great. The art, the story, the characters, the fact it’s the first Lupin III anime series IN TWENTY FIVE YEARS. It would be awesome if the same people who worked on this series did another one, let’s be real.

Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna is a prequel of sorts to the Lupin III series. It focuses on Mine Fujiko, her past and how she meets Lupin, Jigen, Goemon, and Zenigata.

I thought most of the series was going to be episodic, but it turned out a lot of the episodes had an impact on the overall plot throughout the 13 episodes. It ended up feeling like a mystery anime a little bit, with Lupin trying to figure out what was going on with Fujiko’s past. The one thing about the story I did not like was the cop out with Fujiko. In the end, we really don’t learn much about her past which was a little annoying after so many episodes thinking you had. The surprise twists were cool, which did make up for it a little. I also enjoyed that the series catered to a more adult audience. There were jokes and Lupin being Lupin, but overall the series was pretty dark which I liked a lot.

Now the art! The art was my favorite thing. I absolutely loved the manga-inspired stylistic art that was used. The dark shading worked well with the dark themes and made everything look super creepy. It also had a 60s/ 70s feel to it which, obviously, works perfect for the series. I heard a lot of people say it was distracting when the series started, but I think after a few episodes you get pretty used to it. The animation was also amazing, the action sequences were amazing, everything was amazing.

Watch Mine Fujiko to Iu Onna. Especially if you’re a Lupin III fan. It’s dark and beautiful and although the story had a few set backs for me towards ending, everything else was great.
