The second part of Fate/ Zero was just as good, if not better, than the first part. I still haven’t watched Fate/ stay night because I wanted to wait to finish Fate/ Zero. Definitely going to get on that!
The second part of Fate/ Zero starts off right where the first part ended. The premise of the series is seven people being chosen to fight in The Holy Grail War. They each become the master of one Heroic Spirit, who are the spirits of legendary heroes in history. When you win the war, The Holy Grail grants you one wish.
The first part of Fate/ Zero had a lot of expedition and not as much action while the second part was chock-full of action and feels. The season starts right off into a huge battle and just keeps going with betrayals and death everywhere. I pretty much knew most of the Heroic Spirits would end up getting killed, but it was still very emotional to see some of my favorites kick the bucket. I’m surprised there weren’t more human deaths though. The final episode did such a great job setting up the setting for Fate/ stay night, even I could see that.
Gen Urobuchi definitely doesn’t let down when it comes to story. I’ve heard a lot of people complain that he doesn’t know how to write a main character, he focuses too much on the other characters. I actually think this is a good thing as a writer. He doesn’t focus on one character and then make the others two dimensional. Nearly everyone gets development. And there is a lot of development in the end of this season.
I would suggest Fate/ Zero to everyone. Whether you’ve watched Fate/ stay night before. Put both series on your watch list and get crackin’.
