Arcana Famiglia did one thing really well, which was having a large cast of very adorable boys. And also had a rather likable lead girl too, which is hard to do in reverse harems anime like this. If they ever ended up doing a sequel/ second season I’d watch for the eye candy. And for dat Debito.
Arcana Famiglia takes place on an island called Regalo. On this island a strange “family” keeps the peace. This family is actually comprised of various people who have unique, special powers called Arcana. The story starts off with the leader of Arcana Famiglia announcing the Arcana Duello, which members of the family will fight one another to earn the title of “Papa.” As well as marrying the current leader’s daughter, Felicita. Angry at her father for doing this behind her back, Felicita decides to enter the Duello herself so that she can win and not get married.
Sounds interesting right?! KICK ASS FEMALE LEAD NOT LETTING NO MAN TELL HER WHO SHE CAN MARRY. Yeah, that’s what I thought too. Unfortunately the idea of the Arcana Duello takes a backseat during most of the series. Only one episode is devoted to it, and I thought it was a very lackluster episode at that. The rest of the series focuses on the various men of the Arcana Famiglia as well as Felicitia and her family. We learn about their pasts, their powers and watch their relationship with Felicitia grow. Although this wasn’t really bad, and I did enjoy the eye candy of the series, it just was not what I was expecting and so I was a bit let down.
I absolutely loved the character designs though, and the general look of the anime. At times the animation was really great looking, while others it looked a little shoddy. As I said, all the guys are super cute looking and even Felicita is adorable.
If you’re into reverse harems, like lots of boys, with some drama and action, then why not check Arcana Famiglia out? But only if you’re into all that. All at once. That’s what happens.
